Project Manager / What is the Product Quality?

It is virtually impossible to forecast a release date without quality metrics. What is the current product quality? How many test cases failed in the current iteration? What User Stories are not completed yet? With the manual test cases module, TargetProcess provides two reports that answer these questions.

The Test Cases Runs by Release/Iteration/Build report shows the overall quality state of releases/iterations/builds. For example, the chart below shows that even in the latest iteration #2.5 there are some failed test cases, but in general product quality increases over iterations.

The Test Cases by User Story report shows the quality of specific User Stories. You can see the quality of all User Stories in the current release or current iteration. For example, the chart below shows that only one User Story has a failed test case, while three other User Stories are completed and tested. Thus TargetProces supports the Running Tested Features (RTF) concept.

With all this information in hand, it is easier to make decisions about what User Story could be dropped from a release and what User Story has more problems and demands more attention.
