A product is something (physical or not) that is created through a process and provides benefits to a market. Many companies are moving towards a product model with product managers, product visions, product strategies, product roadmaps, product backlogs, product increments and minimum viable products.
The solution is designed for Product Managers and Product Owners and enables them to manage Product Backlogs and track Product related activities.
The solution enables a new Product object and connections of a Product and Work Items such as Portfolio Epics, Epics (Capabilities), Features, User Stories, and Bugs.
After installing the solution, the list of Products appears in the left menu. Here you can create your Product list and start managing work related to Products.
On a Product view, you will see new tabs with related to a Product work items such as Portfolio Epics, Epics (Capabilities), Features, User Stories, and Bugs.
Portfolio Epics and Epics have many to many connections to a Product, which means a they can be related to multiple different Products, while Features, User Stories and Bugs can only have one related Product.
So, on a Portfolio Epic, and Epic (Capability) views there will be a new tab showing a list of related Products.
While, on Feature, User Story and Bug views, you'll see an additional field Product in the right section.
By connecting Work Items to Products, you can now better manage Product Backlogs and build any reports around Products.
