Financial Management Structure

Requires the following solutions to be installed:

• Years, Quarters, Months, Weeks and Days (4fb0e9dd-40e7-4dd2-ba10-548b86ecebeb)
• Colored and Formatted Units – Core Mashup (cb9ca2ee-8ba2-4e91-bab8-9c0ccd7199b3)

It has to be extended by one or more following solutions:

Solution Overview

The Financial Management solution is designed to support the activities related to portfolio investment planning, funding work, people or products, and tracking actual labor and non-labor expenses through the months, quarters, and years.  

Financial Management solutions in Apptio Targetprocess cover different use cases and should be enabled based on your requirements and use case to support:

• Financial Management Structure – enabling the data structure needed for the mentioned below solutions (required)
• Project Portfolio Budgeting – enabling funding and tracking Project (or Portfolio Epic) budgets 
• Lean (Value Stream) Budgeting (coming soon) – enabling funding and tracking Value Stream, Solution Train, Agile Release Train and Team budgets
• Product Budgeting (coming soon) – enabling funding and tracking Product budgets

The Financial Management Structure solution is the first essential part of the Financial Management solution. It enables the Financial Management structure, needed for all the Financial Management solutions. On top of it you can install any or all other Financial Management solutions, depending on whether you need to fund Projects, People or Products or how you need to track Actuals. Please read more about each of these solutions in the description of the solutions. 

Solution Structure

The solution enables the structure of Budget -> Annual Budget -> Quarterly Budget -> Monthly Budget, Costs and Expenses, which will be later connected to either Portfolio and Portfolio Epics (Project Portfolio Budgeting solution),  Portfolios, Value Streams, Solution Trains, Agile Release Trains and Teams (Lean Budgeting solution), or/and Portfolio and Products (Product Budgeting solution). 

This structure allows us to fund work, people or products on an annual basis and track actuals on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis. The sensitive information will be stored on Budget objects, so it stays visible only to people who have access to the Budgeting project.

Solution Configuration

To move Costs and Expenses to the Budgeting Portfolio, we need to update automation rules with the correct Budgeting Portfolio ID

• Create a "Budgeting" portfolio
• Copy a "Budgeting" portfolio ID
• Go to Settings -> Automation Rules
• Replace the Project ID parameter in the rule:
