RAG status reporting is used when project managers are asked to assess how well a project is doing using traffic lights as indicators. A red traffic light indicates problems. An amber light shows that one or more aspects of project viability (time, cost, scope) are at risk, while green means things are going well.
A project’s RAG status is based on the following information:
- The forecasted completion date
- Existing and potential risks
- Budget information
- People availability
